Joke

Jayden came up and saw that I was posting the picture with him reading. He then made up a Warriors themed joke that he wanted to post. It is funny to those that have read the book, Firestar's Quest. He is reading over my shoulder having me detail all of this (i.e. Don't just type "the book". They won't know which one. Type Firestar's Quest.) He is and always has been very literal.

Here is Jayden.....

me: What will Rockkit be when he grows up?

you: I have absoluetly no idea!

me: A Rockstar
Hhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Warriors

Jayden has read all the books in the Warriors series and the Warriors Field Guide Secret of the Clans. The Easter Bunny brought him Firestar's Quest, which is separate from the regular series. Hopefully this gives him his Warriors "fix" until the next one is released on April 22nd.

Happy Easter!

We got home from church and it was picture time. The kids are so patient with me while I take a million and one shots of each pose. They have had the camera in front of them since the day they were born. Lucky for me, they just think, "this is what we do" and not, "Mommy is neurotic". It has been such a beautiful, wonderful day!

What's inside?

Jayden, Devon and Makenna came in and started cracking eggs open. They could hardly wait to see what treasures they received this year. Mom was quite happy with the Easter Bunny. The eggs were filled with cute decorations for their own Easter trees, gooshy balls (our word we adopted from Kaelyn), and other non-sugar items. Yeah! So much fun without all of the candy.

Egg Hunting

The kids woke up filled with excitement. We threw on coats and went outside for the egg hunt.

Decorating Easter Eggs

When one of your children has a food allergy to eggs, you find new ways to celebrate Easter. Some years we use stickers, other times we have painted. This year they wanted to draw pictures on their eggs. We had a lot of fun!

Utah Jazz game

Touch of Class danced for the Utah Jazz. They were the pre-game show. It was really cute to watch Makenna tonight. She was so happy and excited to be there. I think some of that energy made her a little bit distracted. It seemed like she was finding it hard to focus. She giggled about that after it was over. She had fun though and we watched a great game. It was the Jazz vs. the Lakers. We got to sit courtside while the players warmed-up and the girls danced. Then we moved to our nose-bleed seats to watch the game. Matt had class tonight. It was a bummer to not have him there with us. One more year and then we will have our "normal" family life back.

Makenna was on the Jumbo Tron while they were waiting to start their dance.

Matt started his new job today.

Matt recently received a promotion. His new job is the IT Standards and Solutions Branch Chief. Today was his first official day in his new position. We took a couple pictures as he came home from his first day on the new job. We are so proud of our Mattie/Daddy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Leprechauns visited and turned our toilet water green.
The kids spent the entire afternoon building leprechaun traps. They kept noticing that things were moving throughout the house. What a fun, magical day!

Disney On Ice: Princess Wishes

Our gift to Makenna on Valentine's Day was to go and see Disney On Ice: Princess Wishes. The perfomance was tonight. It was a Mommy/Daughter date and we had a blast. This weekend was such a "Kenna weekend" that Matt and I keep joking that Monday is going to be a complete bummer for her.

A HUGE SURPRISE!

We were just beginning to settle down from the excitement of Makenna being named Queen of her division, when her name was announced again. "Number 122, Makenna Martin, Dance Spectacular Utah Amateur Over-all Queen," came over the loud speakers. We were shocked! No camera or camcorder ready. Makenna went up and received her trophy (which is taller than she is), her crown, MP3 player, etc. She came back to us and we calmed down enough to get some pictures then. She was on cloud 9! Being new to all of this, we later found out she scored higher than all of the girls in the Amateur Solo group. This included ages from preschool (which is what she is) to the teenagers. Quite an accomplishment! We are so proud of all the hard work she put into practicing.

Awards

Makenna won the title of Queen in her dance division. The placement of the dancers is as follows...Queen, First Attendant, Second Attendant and so forth. I was so nervous I choked (literally), shook (as you will see in the video), and cherished her moment. This video gives you a feel of the moment:-)

Team Competition

Later that day, it was time for a costume change and team competition.

Dance friends and teacher

Makenna with her teacher, Shaylin.

Makenna and her friends gathered around each other after solos to show support.

Makenna competed in her first solo dance competition.

Makenna was so excited to be able to do a solo this year. She has practiced really hard for three months. We could hardly believe her first competition was already here. She wasn't the least bit nervous. It was so much fun to watch her in her element.

Finally...it's show time!

Devon earned his green belt on March 11, 2008.
