Makenna's show and tell

Makenna asked her solo teacher, Shaylin, if she would come to Makenna's class and be her show and tell. Shaylin was super nice and visited with the kindergarten class. This meant the world to Makenna. She thinks the world of Shaylin.

Devon's Karate Tournament

Devon's karate tournament was really fun to watch. Matt and Jayden left in the middle so that Jayden could play in his Strikers' game. We had an extra cheerleader there with me and Makenna though. Liz joined us for an afternoon of activities.

Light Saber Event

Devon competed in the "light saber" competition. In this event, they get points each time they make contact with their opponent's body.

Tough dragon event

In this event, while pulling on the ball the competitor must knock down the target on their own side to win. Devon went four rounds in this competition. He ended up taking third place in his age group. Great job Devon!!!

Candy Toss at the Karate Tournament

At the end of the day, Master and his team threw out a bunch of candy. The kids raced around to gather it all up. It was a fun way to end the day.

A cold and wet Easter

This year we had our Easter egg hunt inside. It was raining and very cold outside. The boys were very happy with their baskets that were filled with Nintendo DS goodies. Makenna loved her Webkinz bunny and Taylor Swift tickets.

The "baby" in our playgroup turns 5

Nine years ago, in May of 2000, we joined/started a playgroup. Since then we have added three babies (siblings). The youngest of the group just celebrated his fifth birthday. It's crazy how fast the years speed past us.

I went back and added the Elites SHOW performance. It is in the middle of all the dance competition videos. It is such a long one that it took a while for BlogSpot to upload and process. Hope you enjoy!

March 2009 Awards Ceremony

The awards are given out as Queen, 1st Attendant, 2nd Attendant and so on. For this year's Utah competition, Makenna placed as the 1st Attendant in the Intermediate Preschool/Kindergarten division. She competed this year in the intermediate division because she won the Queen title last year at all three of the amateur competitions she was in. We are so very proud of her hard work and confidence that she displayed. It was definitely a "Makenna Day." She had a blast dancing ALL day and we had a really fun day watching her.

Competitions and friends go hand in hand!

Makenna adores her solo teacher and has a wonderful group of friends that she dances with. As an added bonus, I have have become good friends with their moms.

Makenna's March 2009 Solo

Makenna did a great job with her solo. She competed in the Intermediate Preschool/Kindergarten division. At the very beginning she got a little confused and stopped her layout. Then, she relaxed and pulled the rest together. I was nervous and at one point in the video got caught up in watching her. I forgot to move the camera for a couple seconds. The studio director calls this first competition a "dress rehearsal". I think that goes for the moms too!

We got to the gym early so that Makenna could practice her walk-in, stretch out and so Mommy could take some pictures of her in costume.
