End of the school year awards ceremony for 5th and 6th graders

The last year has been a very tough, emotional year for me. I constantly worried about my kids and how my attitude has affected them. This awards ceremony touched my heart in a very personal way for me. It showed that even through tough times we can thrive and succeed. Jayden was called up for being on the honor roll through out the year, receiving the Presidential award, and as one of two kids in the 6th grade to earn the citizenship award. Devon's name was called for being on the honor roll through out the year and testing in the top 10 percent of the nation in multiple areas. I felt so proud (and relieved) to see them recognized for their accomplishments. Great job boys!!!

Fourth of July 2009

We started out the day by cheering on our friends in an all-star game.
Then we watched the local Fourth of July parade with friends.

After that it was time to cool off in the Pottenger's swimming pool.

We ended the night with fireworks.

Sophie's blessing day

Sophie, my niece received her blessing (my in-laws are LDS and it is tradition within the LDS church to bless the babies). Sophie's blessing was beautiful. Then we went back to their house for a yummy brunch.

Last day of school party 2009

Last day of school 2009

The last day of school is bitter sweet. Yearbook signing, pictures with friends and teachers. If your in kindergarten you might even get a visit from a balloon making clown. We had another great year at our amazing charter school.

Devon's Achievements

Devon was presented with an award from the Utah State Board of Education. It is a certificate of outstanding performance on the Iowa Tests. It congratulates Devon for scoring in the top ten percent of the nation in the following areas of performance: Reading, Core Total, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Total Composite. We are very proud of our smart, problem solving boy!

Devon at 3rd Grade Espanolandia

Our school's annual 3rd grade Espanolandia was rich in Spanish traditions and culture. It is meant to simulate entering the country of Spain, tasting the foods of their culture, and making purchases. Each student was allowed to bring one parent with them. Lucky for me, Mommy was the chosen one. Sampling some Spanish food... Making a purchase... Devon with one of his classmates...
